Intigua Tightens Server Security and Increases Operations Efficiencies with New IT Management Platform Capabilities
NEWTON, Mass.–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Intigua™, the company that launched systems management-as-a-service, announced it has extended its software with capabilities that make it easy for enterprises to improve server security, while driving substantial efficiencies across IT operations. New role-based access, management tool self-healing and remote diagnostics features enable IT to significantly reduce privileged server access and its inherent security risks, while streamlining and accelerating critical IT management processes.
Intigua is the industry’s only solution that transforms siloed systems management tools and processes into a pool of consumable management services that are fully automated and orchestrated throughout their lifecycle. Intigua works with all systems management tools, including security, monitoring, configuration management, asset management, compliance and backup. By building security into management tool processes and providing a centralized, policy-driven way to deploy, update and troubleshoot tools across cloud, physical and virtual environments, Intigua accelerates, improves and dramatically simplifies IT operations.
“Intigua has made managing the IT Substrate of agent drivers and the necessary applications easier by providing an automation platform which can be used as part of Infrastructure as Code that support DevOps processes,” said Edward Haletky, Principal Analyst of the Virtualization Practice. “Infrastructure as Code provides automation that limits human interactions, which will remove day-to-day human errors from the environment. In addition, Intigua’s role-based access controls limit access to critical sub-systems by removing the need to login as an administrator. Infrastructure as Code, combined with role-based access controls, lead to more secure hybrid clouds and software defined data centers (SDDC).”
New Intigua security-focused enhancements include:
- Granular Role-Based Access
Intigua enables IT operations teams to perform their jobs without privileged server access by defining roles according to three dimensions: server, management tool and action. With this granularity, IT can map different levels of information visibility and activity permissions to specific tasks and roles. For instance, NOC and Level 1 users may be granted read-only access to the server management landscape, while Level 2 users have read/write access to specific tools on specific servers, and IT engineering and management tool SMEs have read/write and diagnostic access to their particular tools.
- Policy-Based Auto-Remediation for IT Tools
Intigua detects and auto-remediates management and security tool exceptions, reducing the need for manual intervention. For instance, if a security tool, such as an anti-virus or an audit collection agent, isn’t functioning on an endpoint, Intigua will automatically remediate by restarting the service, or re-registering the agent to the console and its appropriate policies. In addition, Intigua can limit agent memory and CPU usage, and check for agent connectivity to back-end tool consoles. These activities can be seen and audited via the Intigua dashboard. Intigua customers have found that Intigua typically auto-remediates 70 to 80 percent of their exceptions and accelerates mean-time-to-repair by 90 percent.
- Remote Tool Diagnostics
When tool-related problems need to be handled manually, IT operations teams can tackle them without privileged server access. For example, an admin can troubleshoot and view log files, configurations and agent performance via the Intigua dashboard instead of logging into servers.
- Log Streaming and Notification Export
Intigua integrates with external systems, exporting notifications about tool deployments, incidents such as tool crashes and attempts to overuse server resources, and user actions such as logins and edits to service policies. This enables IT to have a complete audit log of all actions related to their management tools, and provides new-found visibility into security-critical tool failures. For instance, Intigua can track and trend incidents where security-related tools, such as endpoint protection, are failing, being removed or turned off.
